After School Kid's Club to Begin March 19

The success of the Confirmation Class which has met on Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon has caused us to see the need for a Kid's Club for children in grades 3-5. We will be gathering at La Casa after school on Wednesdays to do crafts, cook, play games, do homework and learn how to live in an environment of Christian fellowship. Older youth and adults are welcome to come and serve as helpers. This group is an experimental group which will be meeting through the end of the school year. A decision on continuing the group in the fall will be made later.

Vacation Bible School to be June 2-6

Representatives from Mount Hope Federated Church and Mount Hope United Methodist Church met together on February 17 to begin planning our combined Vacation Bible School for 2008. After much discussion of early and late summer and morning or evening time slots it was decided to hold our VBS from 9:00 to 11:00 AM from June 2 through June 6. The theme will be "Our Big Backyard" and will be held at the Federated Church. The closing program will be June 8 at 7:00 PM at the Federated Church so the children can show their parents and grandparents all of the songs they have learned during the week. Save the dates for this wonderful adventure in "Our Big Backyard".  The next planning meeting will be March 30 at 2:00 PM at the Federated Church.

Chicken Pie Dinner a Huge Success

Many thanks to the multitude of people who contributed to the success of the Chicken Pie Dinner which was held February 24 at the Mount Hope Community Center.  It was truly a celebration of the continuation of the event which began nearly 130 years ago.  Approximately 200 people were served the traditional meal of Chicken Pie with biscuits, Ham Loaf, Beets, Corn, Salad and pie.  People from many churches in the area came to enjoy the meal and fellowship and it was a wonderful example of ecumenical relationship.
